Government Schools Are the Foundation of the Nation’s Future: CM Revanth Reddy

The Telangana government has initiated major reforms in the education sector with the objective of providing corporate-level education to underprivileged students . Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy participated in the ‘Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika’ Education Week celebrations held at LB Stadium on Monday. During the event, he laid the foundation stone for the Young India Integrated Residential Schools , which will be constructed in the Core Urban Area at a cost of Rs. 1,011 crore .

The Chief Minister inspected various stalls set up by the Education Department and said that all stakeholders share the responsibility of ensuring that the reforms being introduced in the education sector are implemented without setbacks. He also stated that plans have been prepared to develop educational infrastructure at a total cost of Rs. 1,700 crore .

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that government schools are the platforms that shape the nation’s future and that the government’s goal is to treat every student studying in public schools like its own child. He reiterated that the aim is to develop government schools on par with private educational institutions. Keeping in view the changes taking place globally in the education sector, the government is implementing an integrated education system from nursery to Class 12. He added that new policies are being introduced to reduce dropouts, particularly to ensure that students do not discontinue their education after Class 10.

He announced that the government has prepared a special plan to provide nutritious food to students in government schools, which will be implemented from the next academic year. He further said that the government would spend Rs. 1,000 crore on essential supplies for students and warned that strict action would be taken if there is any compromise in quality.

The Chief Minister stated that the government has allocated 8.22 per cent of the state budget to education and is working towards increasing it to 15 per cent in the future. He observed that the future of nearly 19 lakh students studying in government schools rests in the hands of teachers and described it as a responsibility filled with emotion and commitment.

“The future of the nation lies in classrooms,” he said, adding that comprehensive plans have been prepared to provide quality education. To enhance teachers’ skills, he announced that 500 outstanding teachers would be sent abroad every year to study educational systems in countries such as Japan and Singapore . He called for aligning Telangana’s education policy with emerging developments such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the National Education Policy (NEP) so that the state’s education system can emerge as the best in the country.

The Chief Minister also presented cash incentives of Rs. 1 lakh each to students and teachers from government schools who demonstrated outstanding performance. He said the education reforms are aimed at the welfare of poor children and added that the government would take these changes forward in coordination with teachers’ associations and parents.

Ministers Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Vivek Venkataswamy, government adviser K. Keshava Rao and senior officials attended the programme.
