
Government school students from Rural areas felicitated for National Science exposure tour
A total of 52 students from government schools in rural areas of Andhra Pradesh have been selected to participate in a Science Exposure Tour to New Delhi, scheduled from November 6 to 8, 2025. The program is organized under the supervision of Samagra Shiksha with support from the Andhra Pradesh Science City, as part of the state government’s efforts to promote science awareness among rural students.
The selected students include Ganta Yashaswini of Zilla Parishad High School, I Pangidi village, Kovvur mandal, and Kandula Jessie of Zilla Parishad Girls High School, Dowleswaram, both from East Godavari district. Two students from each district of the state are expected to participate, totaling 52 students.
The students will be exposed to advanced science and technology activities, including interactions with scientists and engineers, during the three-day tour. Although it has not been officially confirmed whether this will be the first air travel experience for the students, such state-sponsored programs for rural government school students often include flights to broaden their horizons.
Officials have noted that programs like this are intended to increase curiosity and interest in STEM fields among students. Similar initiatives in other Indian states, such as Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, have previously allowed students to visit laboratories, science museums, and aerospace facilities, providing valuable experiential learning beyond the classroom.
At the national level, multi-state exposure programs, such as the Tribal Youth Exchange Programme (TYEP) and events like the Jawaharlal Nehru National Science and Environment Exhibition for Children (JNNSEEC), have been conducted in New Delhi, involving students from multiple states. These programs aim to encourage young students to pursue science and technology careers.
The Science Exposure Tour for Andhra Pradesh students is expected to inspire greater engagement in science, provide practical learning experiences, and motivate students to explore higher education and career opportunities in STEM disciplines. Travel and logistics arrangements, including flights, are being managed by the state education authorities.
