Government negligence puts students’ future at risk

Thousands of students studying in private schools under the "Best Available Scheme" are left in limbo as the state government has failed to pay their fees for the past 22 months.

Since coming to power, the Congress government has promised to cover the fees for students under this scheme. However, no funds have been released so far. Raising concerns over this delay, MLA Kavitha Kalvakuntla questioned on X whether the promises made to voters have been forgotten and if the dreams of children from poor families are being shattered. She criticized the government for abandoning the scheme it introduced to ensure education for underprivileged children.

Private school managements in districts like Nalgonda and Jagityal have also expressed frustration. After the Dasara holidays, they reportedly did not allow students into classrooms, claiming that the government had not paid their fees and the schools could not operate without this support. Parents were left to bear the burden themselves.

Even when parents approached the Jagityal Collectorate for help, they were told to "go to the Deputy Chief Minister for fees," leaving them with no relief. Kavitha urged the government to act immediately, stressing that education should not become a political tool. She called on the authorities to release the pending fees without delay to safeguard students’ future.
