Google unveils major AI, Gemini, and developer updates

Google has announced a series of major updates across its artificial intelligence platforms and developer tools this week, introducing new capabilities for robotics, AI assistants, and productivity applications.

Google DeepMind launched Gemini Robotics 1.5, a new family of models that bring agentic capabilities to robots, enabling them to perform complex, multi-step tasks in the physical world. The update represents a step forward in general-purpose robotic intelligence.

The Gemini app has been updated with Gemini 2.5 Flash, featuring improved image understanding, enhanced response organization, and formatting, designed to deliver more accurate and coherent outputs. In addition, the Gemini Live API received a major upgrade with the introduction of a native audio model, currently available in preview, improving the reliability and naturalness of voice agents during real-time conversations.

In the innovation space, Google Labs launched Mixboard, an AI-powered concept board to help users visualize and expand projects. Mixboard is now available in public beta in the U.S., offering an open canvas for idea development.

Flow by Google now supports image editing and refinement through NanoBanana and includes prompt expanders to enhance prompts, allowing greater control and consistency across creative outputs.

Gemini has also become a conversational assistant on Google TV, enabling users to discover movies and shows, and obtain answers to queries with supporting YouTube videos, currently available on select TV models.

Live in Search has graduated from Search Labs and is now available to all English users in the U.S., facilitating free-flowing, voice-based conversations with Search using a phone camera.

Developers also benefit from a public preview of the Chrome DevTools MCP server, enabling AI agents to run performance traces and debug web pages, and higher usage limits for Gemini CLI and Gemini Code Assist for subscribers to Google AI Pro and Ultra.
