‘Golmaal 5’ Set for January 8, 2027 Release With Original Cast and Akshay Kumar

The much-loved Golmaal franchise is set to return to the big screen, with the fifth instalment scheduled for release on January 8, 2027.

The film will see Ajay Devgn reprise his popular character Gopal, along with several familiar faces from the franchise. Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Kemmu and Sharman Joshi are set to return, bringing back the ensemble that has been closely associated with the comedy series.

Adding a new dimension to the franchise, Akshay Kumar will join the Golmaal universe for the first time. His inclusion marks one of the major highlights of the upcoming film and brings together two of Bollywood's popular comedy-film names.

Director Rohit Shetty, who has helmed the previous instalments, has promised another dose of laughter and family entertainment. Sharing the release announcement, Shetty teased “LAUGHTER, FUN, JOY, HAPPINESS AND FAMILY”, signalling a continuation of the light-hearted, chaotic comedy that has defined the franchise.

‘Golmaal 5’ will arrive nearly a decade after ‘Golmaal Again’, which released in 2017 and became a major commercial success. The new film is expected to retain the series' trademark humour and ensemble-driven storytelling while introducing Akshay Kumar into the mix.

The January 8 release is a non-holiday opening, but the film could receive a boost in its second week from holidays in Gujarat. However, its theatrical run may face competition from the potential release of ‘Mahakali’, setting up an interesting early-year box-office clash.

The makers have kept details about the plot under wraps, but the return of the original cast, Shetty's direction and Kumar's entry have already generated interest among fans.

The fifth chapter will thus reunite the core ‘Golmaal’ gang while adding a new star to the franchise, promising another round of chaos, comedy and family entertainment when it reaches theatres in January 2027.
