Golf Sensation in Hyderabad: Dhruv, Vishesh Fire Stunning 60s to Lead Golconda Masters

Dhruv Sheoran and teenage local hope Vishesh Sharma produced spectacular opening rounds of 10-under 60 to seize a share of the lead at the Rs 1 crore Telangana Golconda Masters on Tuesday.

The duo matched the course record at the Hyderabad Golf Association and finished the first round with a one-shot advantage in the 12th edition of the tournament.

Sheoran, a 31-year-old from Gurugram, delivered the round of his career as he fired 11 birdies against just one bogey. The 2024 DP World PGTI winner, currently 12th in the 2026 Race to DP World India Championship, looked in complete command throughout his round.

Playing in the afternoon, 19-year-old Hyderabad golfer Vishesh Sharma matched Sheoran's remarkable 60. In only his second season on the tour, Vishesh produced an impressive card featuring nine birdies, an eagle on the par-five sixth and just one bogey.

With the home crowd behind him, Vishesh showed composure well beyond his years and put himself firmly in contention for what could become a breakthrough week.

Noida's Amardeep Malik was just one stroke off the pace at 9-under 61. The two-time PGTI winner carded 10 birdies and a single bogey to claim third place outright.

Japan's Koichiro Ishika followed in fourth at 7-under 63 after producing a bogey-free round, while Sri Lanka's N Thangaraja and Delhi's Honey Baisoya shared fifth at 6-under 64.

Defending champion Jamal Hossain of Bangladesh endured a difficult start, managing a 2-over 72 to sit tied 72nd. Saptak Talwar was level par 70 and shared 50th place.

With the leaderboard tightly packed at the top, the second round promises another fierce battle as the leading contenders look to build momentum in Hyderabad.
