At the 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China , held from 22 to 30 April 2026 , India delivered a standout performance in beach kabaddi, finishing the campaign with a gold and a silver medal that lit up the national medal tally.

The Indian women’s team produced a dominant run throughout the tournament. They topped their group with authority, carried that momentum into the knockout stage by defeating Bangladesh in the semifinals, and then delivered a commanding performance against Sri Lanka in the final to secure the gold medal. Their unbeaten rhythm and control on the sand marked one of India’s most confident beach kabaddi displays in recent years.

On the men’s side, India’s men’s team showed equal flair and power. They stormed through Group B with convincing wins over Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Sri Lanka , building strong momentum early in the competition. In the semifinals, they overpowered Pakistan with a dominant 50 to 27 victory, showcasing both attack and discipline.

However, the final against three time gold medalists Iran proved challenging, with India going down 31 to 44 , settling for a well earned silver medal.

The Indian contingent’s double podium finish sparked celebrations, with the Tricolour flying high and fans applauding both the women’s golden triumph and the men’s consistent run. With more events still to come, India’s strong start has set an encouraging tone for the rest of the Games.
