India’s women boxers delivered a commanding performance at the Asian Boxing Championships , clinching four gold medals and finishing as the most successful team of the tournament.

Leading the charge were reigning world champion Minakshi Hooda (48kg) and Asian Games bronze medallist Preeti Pawar (54kg) , who both produced dominant displays in their respective finals on Thursday. They were joined on the top step of the podium by Priya Ghanghas (60kg) and World Boxing Cup gold medallist Arundhati Choudhary (70kg) , completing a memorable day for the Indian contingent.

Minakshi set the tone early, delivering a clinical 5-0 victory over Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan to secure India’s first gold of the day. Preeti followed with an equally emphatic performance, outpunching three time world champion and Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist Huang Hsiao-wen of Chinese Taipei for another unanimous 5-0 win .

Priya continued India’s winning streak with a convincing 3-0 triumph against North Korea’s Won Un-gyong, while Arundhati sealed the fourth gold after defeating Kazakhstan’s Bakyt Seidish 4-1 in a hard fought contest.

India’s only setback in the finals came in the 57kg category , where reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria suffered a 0-5 defeat against Thailand’s experienced Punrawee Ruenros.

Meanwhile, Alfiya Pathan (80+kg) secured a silver medal after losing to Kazakhstan’s Dina Islambekova. Earlier in the tournament, Nikhat Zareen, Ankushita Boro, Lovlina Borgohain and Pooja Rani settled for bronze medals after semifinal exits.

With four gold, two silver and four bronze medals , the Indian women’s team finished with an impressive haul of 10 medals . Their progress to the finals also ensured qualification for the upcoming Commonwealth Games and Asian Games later this year.

In the men’s section, Vishwanath Suresh (48kg) and Sachin Siwach (60kg) will fight for gold in their respective finals on Friday.

Overall, India has already secured 16 medals , the highest by any nation in the ongoing edition, underlining a strong showing in continental boxing.
