The Goa government aims to strengthen its artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, promote local talent and encourage technology-led innovation under its AI Policy 2026, officials said on Sunday.

The state will host the next edition of the Goa AI Tech Conclave in October 2027, following the conclusion of its two-day event organised by the Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications.

Announcing the next edition during the concluding session, DS Prashant, chief executive officer of the Software Technology and Incubation Park of Goa (SITPC), said the conclave would become an annual event on India’s technology calendar.

The 2026 conclave featured panel discussions, startup pitches, skill-development sessions, student workshops and exhibitions showcasing digital solutions. Discussions on the second day focused on AI applications in climate resilience, sustainability, industrial transformation and next-generation enterprises.

As many as 14 startups from sectors including software-as-a-service (SaaS), health technology, clean technology, tourism technology and AI products presented their ideas to investors during the event. Industry representatives provided feedback on their proposals, officials said.

Technology companies and organisations, including Google, Microsoft, Digital India and Bhashini, showcased innovations and digital solutions in the exhibition area. Hands-on training sessions and workshops were also organised for students and other participants.

At the conclave’s inaugural session on Thursday, the state government unveiled its Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026 and launched a state-level hackathon to encourage responsible adoption of the technology, strengthen governance and create economic opportunities.

The hackathon is intended to encourage participants to develop technology-based solutions to practical challenges. Student competitions and challenges also formed part of the conclave, with winners felicitated at the closing session.

The government’s initiatives are aimed at connecting startups, students, technology organisations and public institutions to support innovation and build skills in emerging technologies.

The next conclave, scheduled for October 2027, is expected to continue providing a platform for startups to present ideas, interact with investors and engage with industry representatives.

Officials said the state’s broader objective was to advance its AI Mission, strengthen the local technology ecosystem and expand opportunities for innovation and skills development.
