Global Schools Group Launches Season 1 of Global One Championship in Bengaluru

The first-ever Global One Championship, a national-level multi-sport interschool tournament, is being launched by the Global Schools Group (GSG) in Bengaluru. The championship, scheduled from December 12 to 14, 2025, will be conducted across multiple venues, beginning with an opening ceremony at OWIS Sarjapur and concluding with a closing ceremony on December 15 at GIIS Whitefield.

More than 800 students from 27 campuses across India are being brought together for the championship, including participants from GIIS Whitefield, GIIS Bannerghatta, OWIS Whitefield, OWIS Sarjapur, Witty Udaipur, Glendale Academy, GIC, GIB, GIIS Noida, GIIS Ahmedabad, GIIS Hadapsar, and GIIS Balewadi, among others. The event is being designed to foster unity, cultural exchange, and high-level sportsmanship among students from different regions.

Competitions are being organized in eight sports disciplines: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Football, Swimming, and Table Tennis. Cricket matches are being conducted exclusively for boys in the Under-14 and Under-17 age groups, while all other sports are being made available for both boys and girls, ensuring an inclusive and balanced competition.

In addition to competitive sports, students from GIIS Whitefield are being engaged in photography and videography, providing hands-on experience in sports media, event management, and content production. A city sightseeing program is also being arranged for students travelling from outside Bengaluru on December 15, offering a cultural and educational experience beyond the sporting arena.

All matches are being live streamed online, allowing families, school communities, and sports enthusiasts to follow the action and celebrate the students’ achievements.

Speaking about the championship, Mr. Rajeev Koul, Deputy COO of Global Schools Group, stated that the event has been created to strengthen GSG’s commitment to developing well-rounded athletes. He emphasized that while academics remain important, opportunities to build confidence, discipline, and character through sports are equally valuable. He added that the championship represents a natural progression from regional-level competitions to a unified national platform, aiming to build a strong sporting culture within GSG schools and encourage students to showcase their abilities and strive for excellence.
