In a major international recognition, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has been awarded the 2025 Global Education for Peace Award by the STAR Scholars Network, lauded for its steadfast commitment to advancing peace through higher education. The honour was announced in Washington DC on the occasion of the United Nations’ International Day of Peace (21 September).

The Global Education for Peace Award shines a spotlight on higher education institutions that embed global citizenship, ethical leadership, cross-cultural dialogue and empathy in their curricula. JGU won for its innovative course offerings, strong pedagogical practices, extensive international collaborations, and community engagement that promote justice, inclusivity and sustainability.

According to Professor John C. Weidman, Chair of the selection committee,” JGU represents a model for how universities worldwide can integrate peace, justice, and sustainability into the heart of their educational mission.” This year, the award is shared between JGU and the American University in the Emirates (UAE).

Chancellor Naveen Jindal expressed that the honour affirms JGU’s vision of transcending borders and equipping students to face global challenges with compassion. Vice-Chancellor C. Raj Kumar said the award reaffirms the university’s founding ideals of fostering dialogue, empathy and inclusive leadership in times of growing polarization.
