Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been fined 20 per cent of his match fee and handed a demerit point after an emotional reaction during his side’s IPL clash against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday night.

The incident unfolded in the fifth over when Raghuvanshi was given out for “obstructing the field.” The young batter, visibly upset with the decision, reacted strongly by striking the boundary cushion with his bat and later throwing his helmet into the dugout.

Following a review, the IPL confirmed that the player had breached Level 1 of the Code of Conduct , specifically Article 2.2, which deals with abuse of cricket equipment and fixtures during a match.

In an official statement, the league said Raghuvanshi admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by the match referee.

Despite the controversy, KKR went on to secure a dramatic victory over Lucknow Super Giants in a Super Over finish , keeping their campaign momentum intact.

The disciplinary action adds a cautionary note to an otherwise high-intensity contest, highlighting the league’s strict stance on maintaining on-field discipline even in emotionally charged moments.
