The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and Hyderabad City Police on Wednesday carried out a joint field inspection of the proposed KBR Park Flyover project, reviewing its alignment, traffic management strategy and utility infrastructure as the city moves forward with one of its key urban mobility initiatives.

The inspection was led by GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan and Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand , who assessed on-ground conditions following the recently conducted one-way traffic trials around the KBR Park corridor. The exercise was aimed at identifying operational challenges and refining construction and traffic management plans before the project enters the next phase.

Senior officials, including Khairatabad Zonal Commissioner Santosh , Traffic Joint Commissioner Joel Davis , Traffic DCP Kajal Singh , the GHMC Chief Engineer , and representatives from Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Limited (MEIL) , the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Horticulture Department , participated in the inspection.

During the review, officials examined the proposed flyover alignment , traffic diversion plans , relocation of electricity and water pipelines , road safety measures , and landscaping proposals . The findings from the one-way traffic trial were also evaluated to understand vehicle movement patterns, identify bottlenecks and develop strategies to minimise congestion during construction.

Commissioner R.V. Karnan instructed executing agencies to ensure that construction activities are carried out with minimal inconvenience to commuters while maintaining the highest standards of quality and public safety . He directed officials to complete preliminary works within the stipulated timeline and strictly adhere to approved engineering and safety protocols.

Karnan also emphasised the need for seamless coordination among all stakeholder departments to accelerate project execution. He called for the speedy clearance of pending approvals, prompt resolution of inter-departmental issues and effective coordination between civic, utility and traffic authorities to ensure the flyover is completed on schedule.

The proposed flyover is part of Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) , an ambitious programme aimed at improving traffic flow through a network of flyovers and underpasses around KBR National Park . Once completed, the project is expected to ease congestion on one of Hyderabad's busiest road corridors connecting Jubilee Hills , Banjara Hills , Madhapur and HITEC City , while enhancing overall commuter mobility across the western part of the city.
