GHMC Launches Citywide Drive to Remove Encroachments

To ensure smooth traffic flow and protect government properties from encroachments , the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has launched a special drive across the city. On Saturday, officials cleared footpaths and roads of encroachments in several areas.

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan personally supervised the removal operations in Jambagh and Goshamahal areas. Reviewing the results on the ground, he instructed officials to conduct the drive more efficiently and systematically . He emphasised taking strict measures to prevent encroachments from recurring. “The main objective is to eliminate traffic problems caused by encroachments,” he said. The commissioner also stressed that GHMC is committed to keeping roads free from obstructions and improving urban transportation for city residents. Officials added that there would be continuous monitoring of those occupying footpaths for business or creating obstacles on roads.

Meanwhile, on Friday, to provide a permanent solution to traffic congestion in the Jubilee Hills area, the Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department , under Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan , directed officials to complete the KBR Park flyover work on a war-footing. He inspected the site from LV Prasad Eye Hospital to Jubilee Hills Check Post (Road No. 45) . GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan , along with Chief Engineer Sahadev Ratnakar , reviewed the project’s progress .
