
General Dhiraj Seth Calls On President Droupadi Murmu After Taking Charge As Army Chief
Newly appointed Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Monday called on President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
According to the President's office, General Seth was accompanied by his spouse, Komal Seth , during the courtesy meeting. The President's office shared a photograph of the interaction on social media platform X and stated that the Army chief and his spouse had called on the President at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
General Seth assumed office as the Chief of the Army Staff on June 30 , succeeding the previous Army chief. He is regarded as an accomplished military officer with extensive operational experience and has the rare distinction of having commanded two operational Army commands along India's western front .
His appointment comes at a time when the Indian Army continues to focus on strengthening operational preparedness, modernisation initiatives and border security challenges. Over the course of his military career, General Seth has held several key command and staff appointments, gaining experience across a range of operational and strategic roles.
The meeting with President Murmu is part of the customary interactions between the country's top military leadership and the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces following significant appointments.
General Seth's assumption of charge marks a new chapter in the leadership of the Indian Army, with expectations that his extensive command experience will contribute to the force's ongoing efforts to enhance capability, readiness and national security.
