Gaza Ceasefire Brings Calm After Two Years of War

A historic chapter in the Israel-Hamas conflict concluded as all 20 surviving Israeli hostages were safely released from Gaza, ending a two-year ordeal that had left families and communities in anguish. In his address, Trump declared, “The war is over,” calling the ceasefire “the end of an age of terror and death” and the beginning of “a new Middle East.” He honored the 20 returning hostages and remembered the 28 slain hostages, who would now receive proper burials. Trump also said, “God bless America” and “God bless Israel,” emphasizing the importance of rejecting terrorism while rebuilding Gaza peacefully. He added, “Let’s focus on Russia now,” signaling a shift to other global priorities.

Prime Minister Netanyahu thanked Trump for his pivotal role in securing the hostage release and the ceasefire. The Knesset session ended with a standing ovation for Trump, acknowledging his efforts in the peace process. Upon his arrival in Israel, Trump was received by real estate developer Steve Witkoff, alongside Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump, who accompanied him to the Knesset for the historic speech. Egypt announced it would honor Trump with the Order of the Nile, the country’s highest civilian award.

The release of the hostages and the ceasefire agreement offer an opportunity for calm and healing. For both Israelis and Gazans, it represents a fragile but meaningful step toward stability and the hope for lasting peace.
