G.A.U.R.I. campaign targets immunisation gap for underprivileged girls
Novo Medi Sciences Pvt. Ltd. (Novo Group) has launched a nationwide awareness-led public health initiative titled G.A.U.R.I. (Generating Awareness on Underprivileged Girls’ Right to Immunization) to improve access to vaccines for underprivileged girl children through a simple missed-call mechanism.
The campaign, which began on January 24, 2026 (National Girl Child Day) and will run until March 30, 2026 , aims to bridge the gap between awareness and action in preventive healthcare by enabling citizens to participate through a cost-free missed call to 9555-466-000 .
Each missed call is counted as public support for immunisation rights and is acknowledged through an automated voice message and SMS linking participants to a microsite that displays a live tally of responses, ensuring transparency and nationwide engagement. The collective participation will translate into free chickenpox vaccinations for thousands of underprivileged girls using Novo Medi Sciences’ vaccine NEXIPOX PLUS® .
Following the awareness phase, a structured vaccination drive will be conducted by qualified healthcare professionals in line with medical and ethical guidelines. Health workers will also engage with families to promote the importance of timely immunisation and preventive care.
The initiative addresses socio-economic barriers to healthcare access, particularly for highly contagious diseases such as chickenpox, which can cause serious complications in underserved communities. By combining awareness with free vaccination, G.A.U.R.I. seeks to reduce disease vulnerability and reinforce immunisation as a fundamental right of every child.
Novo Medi Sciences has partnered with healthcare professionals and child welfare organisations, including CRY (Child Rights and You) , to ensure responsible execution of the programme. Managing Director Forum Bhagat said the initiative builds on the company’s earlier vaccination drives and demonstrates how small individual actions can collectively generate large-scale public health impact without financial contributions from citizens.
Founded in 1946 by Late Shri Ramesh C. Bhagat, Novo Medi Sciences is a legacy pharmaceutical company with over 80 years of experience in vaccines and critical care biological products. Under third-generation leadership, the company continues to focus on innovation in preventive healthcare, with a portfolio that includes NEXIPOX PLUS®, the world’s only thermostable chickenpox vaccine .
The company has introduced more than 40 first-to-India molecules and maintains a strong vaccine pipeline under clinical trials. It plans to launch at least two new vaccines annually from 2026 , targeting diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis, cervical cancer and herpes zoster. Novo Medi Sciences supplies medicines to over 45 countries , reinforcing its commitment to global healthcare access and quality standards.
The G.A.U.R.I. initiative reflects a growing trend of pharmaceutical companies integrating social impact with public health strategy by leveraging digital participation tools to convert awareness into preventive healthcare delivery. Through this programme, Novo Medi Sciences positions itself not only as a vaccine manufacturer but also as a stakeholder in advancing equitable healthcare access for India’s most vulnerable populations.
