GATE 2026 application deadline extended

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced a postponement of the GATE 2026 application deadline, giving students additional time to register. The last date to apply without a late fee is now October 6, 2025, while applications will still be accepted until October 9, 2025, with a late fee of ₹500.

The GATE 2026 exam, originally scheduled for February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026, conflicted with the UPSC Engineering Services Examination (ESE) on February 8, which many aspirants plan to take. To avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure smooth conduct, IIT Guwahati has decided to postpone the GATE exam. The revised exam dates will be announced shortly, helping candidates plan their preparation and travel effectively.

Candidates can apply through the official GATE 2026 portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in by filling in personal and academic details, uploading required documents, and paying the application fee. The extension provides much-needed flexibility and reduces last-minute stress for aspirants.
