Gandhi Talks to release on January 30: Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy and Aditi Rao Hydari star in dialogue-free social satire

The makers of Gandhi Talks , starring Vijay Sethupathi, Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth Jadhav , have officially locked its theatrical release date. The film is set to arrive in cinemas on January 30, 2026, a date that also coincides with the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi , adding symbolic weight to its central theme.

Directed by Kishore Pandurang Belekar , Gandhi Talks is a rare and ambitious experiment in contemporary Indian cinema as it reportedly features no spoken dialogue. Instead, the film relies entirely on visual storytelling, expressions and music to convey its narrative. The makers describe it as a return to the most elemental form of cinema, where emotions and performances take precedence over words.

Speaking about the vision behind the project, Belekar said the film is about trusting silence and allowing pure performance to drive the story forward . He added that the actors embraced the vulnerability required for such an approach, while A.R. Rahman’s music effectively becomes the film’s voice. Backed by Zee Studios and supported by producer Meera Chopra , the film is positioned as a bold departure from conventional storytelling.

The recently released teaser has sparked curiosity among audiences, offering striking visuals and intense performances. Vijay Sethupathi is seen in a raw, gritty avatar, while Aditi Rao Hydari appears in a contemplative and restrained role. Arvind Swamy and Siddharth Jadhav also feature prominently, with the teaser emphasising silence, inner conflict and moral ambiguity.

Described as a black comedy , Gandhi Talks explores the growing gap between Mahatma Gandhi’s ideals and the realities of modern society. The story follows a young man struggling with financial hardship and how his life unexpectedly intersects with that of a thief and a businessman, bringing themes of values, greed and societal contradictions to the forefront.

The film has already attracted attention for being screened at international film platforms, where its silent format and thought-provoking premise were widely discussed.
