Gandhi family a source of inspiration for the nation: CM Revanth

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy attended a special program organized at Charminar to mark the anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Sadbhavana Yatra. Th e event was held under the aegis of the Sadbhavana Committee. During the ceremony, Revanth Reddy presented the Sadbhavana Award to senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Salman Khurshid in recognition of his contributions to public service.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the visionary reforms introduced by Rajiv Gandhi and the sacrifices made by the Gandhi family for the unity and integrity of the nation. He recalled that former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had laid down her life for the cause of national integrity.

Revanth Reddy questioned why the minimum age to contest in Assembly elections remains at 25 years when the country allows individuals to become IAS and IPS officers at the age of 21. Drawing inspiration from Rajiv Gandhi’s decision to reduce the voting age from 21 to 18, he proposed that the minimum age to contest in Assembly elections should also be lowered from 25 to 21 years. He announced that a resolution to this effect would be introduced in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the continued significance of Rajiv Gandhi’s Sadbhavana Yatra, wh ich has been observed for the past 35 years to promote unity and harmony across India. He said that Congress’ ongoing welfare initiatives, including the caste census, are being carried out in the spirit of Rahul Gandhi’s vision for social justice and inclusiveness.

In his remarks, Revanth Reddy described the Gandhi family as a symbol of inspiration for generations, emphasizing their lasting contribution to India’s democracy and development.
