Gadwal Vijayalakshmi Named Chairperson of Telangana Women’s Commission

The Telangana government has taken a key decision by reconstituting the State Women’s Commission . On Monday, the government issued a Government Order (GO RT No. 637) appointing the Chairperson along with six other members.

The appointments have been made under the Women’s Commission Act, 1998 , with the objective of ensuring the protection of women’s rights, welfare, and empowerment.

As per the order, Ex-Mayor of GHMC Gadwal Vijayalakshmi has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Telangana State Women’s Commission. The members appointed to the Commission include Kasoju Shankaramma, mother of martyr Srikanth Chari, Chityala Swetha, Shashikala Yadav Reddy, Sadalakshmi, N. Radha Bai, and Uzma Ashai Shakera .

The previous Chairperson of the Commission was Nerella Sharada .

The government expressed confidence that the new Commission will play an active role in addressing women’s issues in the state and ensuring their safety and welfare. The Commission will have a tenure of five years .
