Future bureaucrats, here’s your launchpad!

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday inaugurated the new Administrative Training Institute (ATI) building at Naharlagun, highlighting its vital role in preparing administrators to meet the state’s distinctive governance challenges.

The modern ATI complex includes a four-storied administrative and academic block and a six-storied hostel, each constructed at a cost of Rs 20 crore. Khandu recalled his first visit to the old ATI in 2017, noting that cramped classrooms and inadequate facilities had prompted the government to build the new towers to better serve officers and employees-the backbone of governance.

“Institutions like ATI are the crucibles where skilled, empathetic, and innovative officers are shaped,” Khandu said, emphasizing the need for administrators capable of navigating Arunachal Pradesh’s difficult terrain, dispersed settlements, and diverse tribal cultures with transparency, accountability, and dedication to public service.He added that ATI’s manpower requirements would soon be addressed, with four full-time faculty members already inducted.

Khandu also highlighted a major exercise to rationalize manpower across government departments, directorates, and districts. “The newly constituted State Commission for Reforms is undertaking a rigorous exercise in this regard, expected to be completed within two years,” he said.
