FunTouch out, OriginOS In
Vivo has confirmed the launch of OriginOS 6, its next-generation Android skin based on Android 16, in India, officially replacing the company’s long-standing FunTouch OS across Vivo and iQOO smartphones. The announcement was made through Vivo India’s official X account with the statement: “A new chapter begins with OriginOS 6 – designed to make every swipe, tap, and interaction smoother than ever.”
According to reports, the new user interface will debut with the Vivo X300 series and iQOO 15 smartphones, expected to arrive in China in early October 2025. Following the domestic launch, the update will roll out globally, including India, where it will be introduced to eligible devices in a phased manner.
OriginOS 6 brings a series of enhancements aimed at delivering a smoother and more consistent user experience. Anticipated upgrades include refined animations, refreshed design elements, AI-driven optimizations, enhanced multitasking features, and an updated privacy dashboard. Early previews also suggest redesigned widgets and lock screens with larger clocks, improved transparency, and new personalization options.
While OriginOS has previously been exclusive to China, international markets, including India, have relied on FunTouch OS. This marks the first time Vivo will unify its software experience across both domestic and global markets.
The complete rollout schedule for OriginOS 6 in India has not yet been announced. However, Vivo confirmed that all eligible devices under its Vivo and iQOO brands will gradually receive the update, aligning with the company’s goal of offering a polished, seamless, and AI-optimized software experience worldwide.
