From Property Tax to Birth Certificates: GHMC Services Go Digital on WhatsApp
In a significant push towards strengthening digital governance and improving citizen convenience, the Telangana government has expanded the range of services available through the Mee Seva WhatsApp chatbot platform by integrating several important GHMC civic services . The move is aimed at helping citizens access essential municipal services directly through their mobile phones without the need to visit government offices or Mee Seva centres.
The initiative is being implemented under the guidance of Telangana IT and Electronics Minister D. Sridhar Babu , as part of the state government’s larger effort to make public service delivery faster, simpler and more transparent. Officials from the Electronic Service Delivery (ESD) department said the expansion would particularly benefit people in Hyderabad and other parts of Telangana by reducing paperwork and saving time.
The Mee Seva WhatsApp platform , launched on November 18, 2025 , has quickly gained popularity as one of the state’s most widely used digital public service channels. With the latest update, citizens can now access services related to property tax assessment corrections, birth and death certificate corrections, registration of births and deaths that occur at home, door number corrections in property records, name change or correction in property documents, GHMC property tax services and trade licence renewals directly through WhatsApp.
Officials said the process has been designed to be simple and user-friendly. Citizens need to save the official Mee Seva WhatsApp number - 8096958096 - on their phones and send a “Hi” message to activate the chatbot. After selecting the required service from the menu, users can fill in the necessary details, upload documents if needed and complete the payment online through the same interface. Once the payment is successful, the application is submitted instantly through WhatsApp itself.
Authorities noted that the platform has received an overwhelming response from the public since its launch. Services such as birth certificates, income certificates, police challan payments, electricity bill payments and Intermediate Board result services are already witnessing high usage on the platform.
Officials said the growing use of WhatsApp for governance-related services reflects increasing public trust in Telangana’s digital administration model. The government also reiterated that it will continue expanding technology-based citizen services in line with the state’s broader vision of efficient and accessible governance.
