
From Hyderabad to Global Diaspora: KCR’s Birthday Marked with Massive Celebrations
Bharat Rashtra Samithi ( BRS ) president and former Telangana Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) celebrated his 72nd birthday on February 18, with greetings pouring in from political leaders, supporters and diaspora communities across the world. Leaders from across party lines in the Telugu states extended their wishes, reflecting his continued influence in regional politics. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy conveyed his greetings through X (formerly Twitter), while Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also wished him good health and longevity. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar and YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy joined other leaders in extending birthday greetings.
Grand celebrations were held at Telangana Bhavan , the BRS headquarters in Hyderabad, where party leaders and cadre gathered in large numbers. BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) shared an emotional message praising his father’s leadership and commitment to Telangana. Former ministers Talasani Srinivas Yadav, T. Harish Rao , Mahmood Ali and Jagadish Reddy participated in the celebrations and cut a cake. In an emotional speech, Harish Rao recalled KCR’s leadership during the Telangana statehood movement , highlighting his 2009 hunger strike and unwavering resolve that intensified the demand for a separate state, describing him as a historic leader who played a decisive role in achieving statehood in 2014.
BRS supporters and NRI groups marked the occasion across continents. In Australia, under the leadership of BRS Australia president Kasarla Nagender Reddy, celebrations were held in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, featuring prayers, community meals and blood donation drives. In the United States, Europe, Gulf countries and Africa, celebrations coordinated by BRS Global NRI networks highlighted diaspora appreciation for KCR’s governance and their hope for his continued leadership role in Telangana politics.
Supporters also observed the birthday with socially responsible initiatives. Around 20,000 mangrove saplings were planted in the Sundarbans delta region to promote environmental conservation and spread the message, “Protect nature – secure the future.” In Odisha’s Puri beach , a sand sculpture of KCR attracted tourists and visitors. A cultural tribute titled “ Raavayya O Saaru.. Maa KCRu ” added a cultural dimension to the celebrations.
