In a first-of-its-kind initiative blending fitness, community participation, and environmental consciousness, the Union Sports Ministry’s flagship program, Fit India, has partnered with Pune-based movement Simple Steps Fitness to launch ‘Dawn2Dusk’, a 64-day nationwide run.

The campaign began on November 24 at Dong Valley in Arunachal Pradesh, India’s first sunrise point, and will conclude on Republic Day 2026 at Guhar Moti in Gujarat, the nation’s last sunset point. The run is led by ultra-runner and Fit India influencer Ashish Kasodekar, known for his Guinness World Record of running 60 marathons in 60 days and completing the gruelling 555-km La Ultra race.

The initiative encourages citizens from all walks of life to participate by running or walking from their own locations. Participants log their distance through fitness apps or community groups, contributing to a collective target of 7,60,000 km over the 64 days. In addition, the movement promotes tree plantation, with 76,000 saplings planned to be planted in collaboration with the Grow Tree Foundation.

Kasodekar will traverse multiple states, including Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat, inspiring local communities and encouraging public participation. The initiative aims to make fitness a daily habit while fostering environmental responsibility, resilience, and community bonds.

Officials say the campaign strengthens Fit India’s mission to transform fitness into a lifestyle, building awareness about sustainable living in line with Mission LiFE’s vision, and cultivating a culture of health, mindfulness, and inclusive participation across India.
