From Files to Scrap: Atomic Energy Department Sets Efficiency Goals for Special Campaign 6

The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) is preparing for Special Campaign 6, with all its Constituent Units, Public Sector Undertakings and Aided Institutions directed to participate in the exercise.

The campaign will be conducted in two phases. During the preparatory phase from September 15 to 30, 2026, participating organisations have been instructed to set clear targets. The implementation phase will run from October 2 to 31, 2026, when these targets will be taken up and achieved.

The department has also asked its organisations to give wide publicity to campaign activities through social media, promote innovative ideas and adopt best practices.

DAE’s efforts during the sequel to Special Campaign 5.0, from December 2025 to July 2026, included 92 cleanliness campaigns across its organisations. During the period, a total of 82,901 files were reviewed, of which 82,002 files were weeded out.

The campaign also covered disposal of public grievances. DAE said 1,226 Public Grievances and 159 Public Grievance Appeals were disposed of during the period.

The exercise generated more than Rs 4 crore in revenue through the disposal of scrap, while around 8,882 square feet of space was freed up.

All Constituent Units, Public Sector Undertakings and Aided Institutions have been asked to actively participate and work towards the targets set during the preparatory phase.

The department has also encouraged organisations to use innovative approaches and follow best practices as part of the exercise.

Special Campaign 6 follows the department’s continued efforts under earlier special campaigns. The latest exercise will cover participating organisations of the Department of Atomic Energy during the October implementation period.

The campaign will cover activities related to cleanliness, file disposal, public grievance handling, scrap disposal and freeing of space across DAE organisations.

Through the preparatory phase, DAE organisations are to identify and set targets for the activities, which will then be taken up during the implementation phase beginning October 2. The campaign will continue until October 31, 2026. DAE said the campaign would be implemented through active participation.
