Free Retro-Fitted Vehicles And Wheelchairs Distributed To Disabled Persons In Narayanpet

A large-scale distribution drive of assistive devices for persons with disabilities was organised in Narayanpet on Friday as part of efforts to promote empowerment and independent living among beneficiaries.

Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari participated in the programme and distributed various assistive devices under the aegis of the Telangana State Disabled Welfare Cooperative Corporation.

As part of the initiative, beneficiaries received 34 retro-fitted motor vehicles , nine battery-operated wheelchairs , eight laptops , and several tricycles free of cost. Officials said the equipment would help improve mobility, education access, self-employment opportunities, and overall quality of life for persons with disabilities in the district.

Following the distribution programme, the minister visited stalls set up by various government departments and reviewed the implementation of welfare schemes. At a special fisheries department stall, he tasted fish fry prepared by women’s self-help groups and appreciated their efforts. He noted that the fisheries sector was playing an important role in creating livelihood opportunities for rural women.

The minister also inspected horticulture and sericulture department stalls and held discussions with officials regarding the status of palm oil cultivation in the district. Stressing the need to safeguard farmers’ interests, he directed officials to establish palm oil procurement centres in every mandal.

Narayanpet District Collector Chakka Priyanka briefed the minister on various welfare and development programmes being implemented for persons with disabilities and rural communities in the district.

Officials stated that the government remains committed to strengthening public welfare, generating employment opportunities, and ensuring inclusive development across Telangana.
