
Free Animal Health Camps Roll Out Across Andhra Pradesh
Free animal health camps , launched by the government to ensure animal health and welfare of livestock owners , were grandly inaugurated in Nidamanuru village of Vijayawada Rural Mandal . MLA Gannavaram Yarlagadda Venkat Rao and Minister A. Chennayya jointly inaugurated the program and inspected the veterinary services being provided to the animals.
Speaking on the occasion, Yarlagadda Venkat Rao stated that these camps will continue in every village across the state from today until January 31 . The camps offer preventive vaccinations , gestation treatments , medicines for parasites , animal insurance , general treatments, and awareness sessions . Farmers were urged to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure their animals’ health .
The MLA also revealed that the government is announcing substantial subsidies to make livestock rearing more profitable. Cattle feed is being provided to farmers at a 50% subsidy with an outlay of ₹52 crores , and fodder seeds at a 75% subsidy costing ₹28.32 crores . Additionally, the government provides animal insurance with 85% subsidy to financially protect farmers in case of accidental death of animals.
Highlighting the progress in the livestock sector , Yarlagadda said Andhra Pradesh ranks first in egg production in India and second in sheep and goat population . Promoting modernization in animal husbandry , the government has already constructed 58,440 cow shelters statewide and aims to build another 50,000 in the coming year. He emphasized that restoring this neglected sector to its former glory and increasing farmers’ income is the government’s primary objective .
