
Four Swept Away by Sea Currents in Nellore, Bodies Recovered
Four people, including two minors , drowned in the Bay of Bengal near Isekapalli village in Nellore district on Friday after venturing into the sea, police said. The incident occurred around noon when a group of six people entered the water , following which two adults and two children were swept away by strong currents and drowned. Police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and later retrieved all four bodies from the sea.
Authorities have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) , which relates to inquest proceedings in cases of unnatural death . As part of the procedure, police will prepare an inquest report and conduct further formalities, including postmortem examination wherever necessary, to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
The incident has once again brought focus to coastal safety concerns in Nellore district , where unpredictable tides and sudden currents have resulted in multiple drowning cases in recent months. Officials and locals have repeatedly stressed the need for stronger safety measures , including warning boards, barricading at vulnerable points, and timely monitoring during periods of rough sea conditions, to prevent such avoidable deaths in the future.
