Four Students Killed in High-Speed Car Crash Near Hyderabad

A birthday celebration turned tragic early Thursday morning when four college students were killed in a devastating road accident near Mirzaguda, close to Chevella, on the outskirts of Hyderabad. One more student suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Police said the accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when a Ford EcoSport car, travelling at high speed, went out of control and crashed into a tree on the roadside. The students were returning from a birthday party held in Kokapet at the time of the accident.

The impact of the collision was severe, leaving the front portion of the car completely mangled. Rescue efforts were difficult as the students were trapped inside the vehicle. Local residents and police personnel worked together to pull the victims out of the wreckage.

The deceased were identified as Surya Teja, Sumith, Nikhil, and Rohith , all students of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University . Four of them were BBA students, while one was pursuing engineering. The student whose birthday was being celebrated was also among those who lost their lives.

Another student, Nakshatra , who was travelling with them, sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital. Doctors said her condition remains serious.

Officials from Mokila Police Station , under whose jurisdiction the accident occurred, said preliminary investigations pointed to overspeeding as the main cause of the crash. The vehicle reportedly split into two due to the force of the impact.

“The car was being driven at a very high speed. The driver lost control, resulting in the fatal accident,” a police official said. A case has been registered, and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Local residents expressed concern over frequent road accidents on the Mokila–Chevella stretch, especially involving young drivers. They said reckless driving and poor adherence to traffic rules continue to put lives at risk, calling for stricter enforcement to prevent such tragedies in the future.
