Four Minors Feared Drowned in Yamuna, Rescue Teams Continue Search in Delhi’s Alipur

A search operation continued for the second day on Monday after four minors were feared drowned in the Yamuna river near Hiranki village in Alipur area of outer north Delhi . The children were reportedly swept away by the river’s strong current while bathing on Sunday evening.

According to the police, five minors had entered the Yamuna when the incident occurred. One of them managed to escape and raised an alarm after the others were caught in the fast-moving water and disappeared. The police received information about the incident through a call at around 7.30 pm on Sunday .

Following the alert, teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Delhi Fire Services and Delhi Police launched a rescue operation. Personnel have been searching the river using boats and other equipment, but no bodies have been recovered so far , officials said.

Rescue officials said the operation has been challenging due to the strong water flow and difficult river conditions . Teams are continuing their efforts to locate the missing children as authorities monitor the situation.

The incident has renewed concerns over safety risks during monsoon months , when rising water levels and unpredictable currents make activities such as river bathing extremely hazardous. Authorities have repeatedly advised people, especially children, to avoid entering the Yamuna during periods of strong currents and increased water levels.

The search operation remains underway, with rescue teams working to trace the missing minors.
