
Four Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag
Four Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district on Friday, police said, marking a significant development in an ongoing anti insurgency operation in the region.
The encounter took place in the Batuka forest area under the limits of Keredari police station after security personnel acted on a specific intelligence input , officials added.
According to Barkagaon Sub Divisional Police Officer Pawan Kumar , the exchange of fire led to the death of four Maoists on the spot. He said their identities are currently being verified .
“All four Maoists have been killed in the gunfight. Their identities are being established,” SDPO Pawan Kumar stated.
Officials confirmed that no security personnel were injured during the operation, which was carried out in a forested and sensitive stretch known for Maoist activity.
Security forces continued search and area domination operations in the surrounding forest after the encounter to ensure there are no remaining threats in the vicinity. Further details about the operation are expected to be released after preliminary verification and ground assessment .
Police sources indicated that the action was based on specific intelligence inputs , which led teams to the forested belt where the Maoists were believed to be moving.
