Foul play or negligence? Assam probes Zubeen Garg’s death

The Assam government has constituted a one-man judicial commission to investigate the mysterious death of singer-composer Zubeen Garg, an official order confirmed.The commission will be headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia of the Gauhati High Court.

The panel will examine the “facts and circumstances” surrounding Garg’s death in Singapore on September 19. It will also investigate any lapses, negligence, or acts of omission or commission by individuals, authorities, or institutions linked to the case. Furthermore, the commission is tasked with determining whether external factors, including foul play, conspiracy, or other unlawful acts, may have contributed to the incident.

Garg passed away under mysterious circumstances while swimming in Singapore. He had traveled to the country to attend the 4th NorthEast India Festival, organized by Shyamkanu Mahanta and his company.

The judicial commission is expected to provide a detailed report on whether Garg’s death involved negligence or criminal intent, giving clarity to the singer’s fans and the public.
