Formula night race debuts in Mumbai

For the first time, Mumbai’s iconic roads will transform into a 3.753 km FIA-certified racing circuit, bringing top Indian and international drivers together for a night of high-octane action. The city will host the Formula Night Street Race this December as part of the Indian Racing Festival Finale.

The circuit, featuring 14 challenging turns, will wind through Palm Beach Road, Nerul Lake, and wide city boulevards, offering a spectacular backdrop for a night-time racing double-header. Fans can look forward to the Indian Racing League (IRL) and the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC) sharing the action-packed weekend.

The event was formalised when Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. (RPPL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“This street race is a historic milestone for motorsport in Maharashtra,” said Fadnavis. “It demonstrates our ability to host world-class events, boosting tourism and creating employment.”

Akhilesh Reddy, RPPL Chairman & Managing Director, added, “Mumbai’s night race will offer a unique, electric atmosphere. With a 3.753 km FIA-grade circuit, this event will set a new benchmark for motorsport in India.”

The Indian Racing Festival has previously hosted street races in Hyderabad and Chennai. The 2025 season has already featured rounds in Coimbatore and Chennai, with upcoming rounds planned for Coimbatore and the Goa Street Circuit.
