Former Rajya Sabha Member Vijayasai Reddy To Launch New Political Party On November 11
Former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Rajya Sabha member V. Vijayasai Reddy has announced that he will launch a new political party in Andhra Pradesh on November 11, citing the need for a fresh political alternative in the state. He said the party would focus on public welfare, patriotism and protecting the interests of Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to PTI Videos on Friday, Vijayasai Reddy said people were dissatisfied with both the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the opposition YSRCP, creating a political space for a new alternative. He clarified that the launch date was fixed based on an auspicious time suggested by a priest and had no other significance.
Criticising successive governments, he alleged that they had failed on several fronts, including maintaining law and order. He also expressed concern over the state's financial position, claiming that Andhra Pradesh's debt had increased from Rs 1 lakh crore at the time of bifurcation in 2014 to nearly Rs 10 lakh crore at present. The debt burden, he said, amounted to approximately Rs 5.5 lakh per person.
He assured that his party would maintain coordination with the Central government, irrespective of which political party was in power, to secure the state's interests and ensure justice for its people.
Vijayasai Reddy said the new party would work towards ensuring justice for people belonging to all castes, religions and social groups. It would champion constitutional rights and equality and would not be confined to the interests of two caste groups or two families.
Explaining his exit from the YSRCP, he said he had never imagined leaving the party or distancing himself from its president, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. However, he alleged that he was gradually pushed out through repeated humiliation, which Jagan ignored.
Unable to compromise on his self-respect or tolerate the alleged insults, he said he eventually decided to leave. He added that former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy had never humiliated him, accusing Jagan of listening to others and treating him disrespectfully.
Vijayasai Reddy said his new political outfit would provide an inclusive platform focused on public welfare, social justice and Andhra Pradesh's development.
