India’s young boxing contingent continued its strong run at the Asian U17 Boxing Championships in Tashkent , as five pugilists secured semifinal berths with confident and hard-fought performances on Friday.

Leading the charge, Yash Yadav (50kg) produced a gritty display to edge past Kyrgyzstan’s Kubanychbek Bolushov with a 4–1 verdict , showing composure in a tightly contested bout.

In the 54kg category , Nivesh Pal impressed with a unanimous decision win over Japan’s Shingen Kanai, maintaining India’s momentum with a disciplined and controlled performance.

The 70kg division saw Naman Kumar dominate from start to finish, sealing a 5–0 victory against Ruzibek Miravotov of Tajikistan, leaving no room for doubt over his superiority.

Adding to the strong showing, Lakshay Phogat (75kg) delivered another clinical display, sweeping past Chinese Taipei’s Cheng-En Li with a convincing 5–0 win to secure India’s fourth semifinal spot of the day.

However, not all results went India’s way. Karung Albertson (60kg) , Ranveer (66kg) , and Siddhant (+80kg) exited the competition after tough defeats against Kazakh opponents, all going down by identical 0–5 margins .

With these results, India’s U17 boys squad has now secured five medals overall , marking a promising campaign so far. Attention now shifts to the semifinals , where the Indian boxers will aim to turn strong performances into final appearances and push for gold medal contention .

The consistent results across categories underline the growing depth of India’s youth boxing structure, as the team looks to carry this momentum forward in Tashkent.
