Five days on, Jharkhand industrialist’s son still missing, JD(U) MLA urges Central help

A Janata Dal (United) legislator has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to involve central investigative agencies in tracing a 24-year-old industrialist’s son who has been missing for five days in Jharkhand , raising concerns over a possible interstate crime.

JD(U) MLA Saryu Roy said Kairav Gandhi , the 24-year-old son of Jamshedpur-based industrialist Ramesh Gandhi , was allegedly abducted on Tuesday afternoon. Several days after the incident, Roy said the state government has failed to achieve any significant breakthrough in tracing the missing youth.

In a social media post addressed to the Union Home Minister, Roy appealed for the activation of central agencies to assist the ongoing investigation, stressing that the case involves the safety and life of a young man.

“This is not merely a case of abduction or ransom. The circumstances suggest the possible involvement of an interstate gang,” Roy said, adding that assistance from central agencies such as the Intelligence Bureau could provide crucial leads and strengthen the probe.

Police earlier recovered Gandhi’s car from the Kanderbeda area on National Highway-33 under Chandil police station in the neighbouring Seraikela-Kharswan district, a few hours after he was reported missing.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted and is making all possible efforts to trace Gandhi safely, Roy said. He added that he has also taken up the matter with Jharkhand Director General of Police Tadarsha Mishra and East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police, urging intensified efforts.

Meanwhile, the Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the future course of action in light of the incident, reflecting growing concern among the local business community.
