The Meteorological Department has brought relief to people in Andhra Pradesh who have been reeling under intense heat conditions over the past few days. With temperatures crossing 44°C in several parts of the state, causing widespread discomfort, weather conditions have begun to change . The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and rainfall across the state over the next five days .

According to the Amaravati Meteorological Centre, on May 4 , coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema, and Yanam regions are likely to experience thunderstorms with lightning . In particular, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh may witness strong winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph , while Rayalaseema is expected to record winds of around 40 kmph . These unseasonal rains are likely to bring down temperatures and make the weather relatively cooler.

For May 5 and 6 , weather conditions are expected to intensify further . The IMD has indicated the possibility of heavy rainfall at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam districts . During these two days, winds may blow at speeds of up to 50 kmph , while South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema may receive moderate rainfall accompanied by gusty winds. Similar weather conditions are expected to persist across most parts of the state until May 7, officials said.

In this context, the State Disaster Management Department has issued several advisories to the public. People have been warned not to take shelter under trees or near electric poles during thunderstorms and lightning. Farmers and cattle rearers have been advised to avoid staying in open areas and move to safer locations . While the rains may offer relief from the heat, authorities have urged people to remain alert to prevent damage to property due to strong winds .
