
Fit India Sundays 2025 ends on high note in Kolkata
The year-end special edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle concluded on a high note today at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) campus in Salt Lake , marking the 54th and final edition of the nationwide fitness initiative for 2025. The event saw a lively turnout, with hundreds of cyclists, fitness enthusiasts, and citizens coming together to celebrate an active and healthy lifestyle, underlining Kolkata’s growing enthusiasm for wellness and physical activity.
The event was graced by some of India’s most celebrated sportspersons. Four-time Olympian and former World No. 1 archer Deepika Kumari , a Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee, led the lineup. She was joined by Olympians and Arjuna Awardees Atanu Das, Rahul Banerjee, Bombayla Devi Laishram, and Mangal Singh Champia. Renowned shooter Joydeep Karmakar and Dronacharya Awardee Dr. Kuntal Roy were also present, motivating participants with their inspiring presence.
The morning kicked off with a vibrant cycling drive, followed by a host of activities including fitness sessions, Zumba, yoga, rope skipping, cultural performances, and interactive public engagement events . The variety of activities reflected the inclusive spirit of the Fit India Movement, ensuring that people of all ages could take part and enjoy the experience.
While Kolkata hosted this grand finale, Fit India Sundays on Cycle was conducted simultaneously at over 10,000 locations across India, including SAI and Khelo India centres, highlighting the nationwide impact of the initiative.
Launched in December 2024 by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya , the program has evolved into a people-driven movement promoting regular physical activity and eco-friendly commuting. Over the past year, more than 20 lakh citizens participated across 2 lakh locations nationwide.
The Kolkata event, as the final edition of 2025, symbolically wrapped up the year by uniting sporting excellence, community participation, and the spirit of fitness, echoing the movement’s motto: “Fitness Ka Dose, Adha Ghanta Roz.”meaning, half an hour of daily exercise keeps you healthy.
