A fire broke out on Saturday at the Nampally Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in the city, officials said, adding that no one was injured in the incident.

Smoke was first noticed from the ground floor of the building around 10:15 AM , and the fire department was alerted at 10:22 AM . Firefighters and police promptly reached the scene and brought the flames under control.

To extinguish the fire, authorities deployed five fire engines and a firefighting robot . The operation, which lasted around two hours , successfully doused the flames. Officials stated that part of the ground floor was affected and some computer systems were damaged in the blaze.

Telangana Fire Department DG Vikram Singh Mann, IPS , noted that the fire reportedly originated at the electric MCB board in the computer room on the ground floor of the old G+2 building, constructed between 1978 and 1980.

Preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit . However, authorities emphasized that the exact cause is yet to be confirmed, and a full-scale inquiry is underway. Officials are also reviewing the building’s safety measures in light of the incident.
