
Fire Near Stage At Mass Wedding Event Attended By DK Shivakumar, No Injuries
A minor fire incident briefly disrupted a large-scale mass marriage ceremony in Sindhanur town of Raichur district on Sunday, shortly after Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and other dignitaries left the stage. Officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported and the situation was quickly brought under control .
The fire broke out near the stage area while Forest Minister Eshwaran Khandre was interacting with the media. According to initial findings, the blaze was caused by a suspected electrical short circuit , which ignited wires, sound equipment, and decorative cloth materials placed around the stage.
Police personnel and on-site staff responded immediately, preventing the flames from spreading to the main gathering area where several couples and attendees were present. Their prompt response by police personnel ensured that what could have turned into a serious incident remained contained.
The event had drawn a large crowd, including ministers, legislators, local leaders, and actor Sudeep, highlighting its scale and significance. Despite the presence of flammable materials and electrical installations typical of such events, authorities said the situation did not escalate due to timely intervention preventing major damage .
The programme was temporarily halted as a precautionary measure while safety checks were carried out. After ensuring that the venue was secure, organisers resumed the ceremony without further disruption.
Officials indicated that review of electrical safety measures at large public gatherings may be strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
