
Fire breaks out in scrap shop in Visakhapatnam’s One Town area
A major fire accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in the limits of the One Town Police Station , one of the busiest areas in the city. The blaze suddenly erupted in a scrap shop located on Town Kotha Road and quickly spread to nearby shops within minutes. Fortunately, no loss of life was reported, bringing relief to locals.
According to preliminary information, officials suspect that the fire was caused by a short circuit . The presence of large quantities of scrap material, wooden items, and waste oil in the shop led to the rapid spread of flames. Upon receiving information, fire personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after nearly two hours of effort, deploying six fire tenders .
Second such incident raises concern
Responding to the incident, NTR Medical Services Trust Chairman Sitaramaraju Sudhakar expressed concern, stating that this was the second fire accident reported in the same area. He said the fire department was alerted immediately after the incident and that local youth actively participated in the rescue efforts. He added that the extent of property damage appears to be significant , and a detailed assessment is yet to be carried out by officials.
At around 1:15 pm , as the flames intensified, police took control of the area. Coordinated efforts by the fire services and disaster management teams helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby residential houses. Officials from the One Town Police Station stated that the situation is now fully under control , and an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident.
