Fire breaks out at cotton unit in Adoni
A major fire broke out on Tuesday at a cotton processing unit in Adoni, Kurnool district, causing extensive damage to stored cotton. The blaze destroyed a significant quantity of cotton, resulting in substantial financial losses for the unit owner. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, providing some relief to those involved.
According to the police, the unit owner estimated that around 2,500 quintals of cotton were lost in the fire. Adoni DSP M. Hemalatha confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have started due to sparks from the machinery, which were stored next to large piles of cotton. Since the cotton cutting season was underway, machines were running continuously, increasing the risk of such accidents.
Fire department teams quickly rushed to the site and brought the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading to other parts of the unit or nearby buildings. Workers inside the unit and surrounding areas were safely evacuated.
