A tragic incident unfolded in Narsapur, Medak district, when mounting debts and financial distress drove a family into heartbreak. Syed Arif (48), an auto-rickshaw driver and the sole breadwinner of his family, died by suicide after reportedly consuming pesticide due to unbearable financial pressure.

According to family members, Arif had recently suffered a severe leg injury in a road accident, leaving him unable to work and confined to his home. With no source of income, the family’s financial condition worsened rapidly. Unable to repay previous loans or meet household expenses, Arif is believed to have fallen into deep depression.

In a moment of despair, he consumed pesticide at home. His younger son, Soyan, witnessed the horrifying scene and, overcome with grief, also drank the same substance, saying he could not live without his father.

Both were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Arif dead while Soyan remains under critical care.

The incident has cast a pall of sorrow over the Narsapur community. Locals and fellow auto drivers have begun organizing financial support for the bereaved family, whose situation has turned even more precarious after Arif’s death.

This heartbreaking case underscores the urgent need for stronger social safety nets and financial support systems for daily wage earners and accident victims, whose livelihoods can vanish overnight due to unforeseen tragedies.
