
FIFA 2026 tickets in record demand
FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) is set to make history as ticket demand for the 2026 World Cup has already surpassed all expectations. Over 150 million tickets have been requested from fans in more than 200 countries making the initial phase of ticket sales 30 times oversubscribed , FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed.
Speaking about the unprecedented interest, Infantino called the response “incredible” and said it reflects the global passion for football . “The FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to be the greatest and most inclusive show on the planet. This overwhelming demand from fans shows how deeply our game is loved worldwide. We are going to bring the world together like never before,” he said.
The tournament, co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada , will kick off on June 11, 2026 , with Mexico facing South Africa in Group A at the iconic Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
For the first time, the World Cup will feature 48 teams divided into 12 groups of four , with the top two teams from each group and the eight best third-placed teams advancing to the round of 32. The group stage was finalized during a grand Final Draw ceremony at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
With record-breaking interest and a historic new format, the 2026 FIFA World Cup promises to be a celebration of football, unity, and global excitement .
