Festive vibes at Osmania Arts College.

The University College of Arts & Social Sciences, Osmania University, Hyderabad, celebrated 3rd Muddapappu Bathukamma with grandeur and enthusiasm. Organized by the Arts College, the event brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests to mark the beginning of Telangana’s iconic nine-day floral festival.

The program was graced by Goreti Venkanna, people’s poet, singer and MLC, Pushpa Vemula, noted singer and activist, and Mettipally Sudarshan, poet and folk artist. The guests spoke about the rich history of Bathukamma and its deep cultural roots in Telangana. They highlighted how the festival not only represents devotion and nature’s beauty but also played a symbolic role during the Telangana movement, becoming a unifying force of identity and pride.

Adding vibrancy to the occasion, the guests joined students in singing traditional folk songs and shared their insights on the values of unity, empowerment, and cultural preservation. Their participation created an atmosphere of joy and inspiration, as the students experienced the festival’s spirit more closely.

Prof. Kaseem, Principal of the Arts College, appreciated the efforts of students and faculty in organizing the program and encouraged everyone to actively participate in preserving Telangana’s cultural legacy.

The college campus bloomed with beautifully arranged Bathukammas, accompanied by folk dances and cultural performances by students. The celebration concluded with a strong sense of pride, reinforcing Bathukamma as a festival of togetherness, resilience, and Telangana’s cultural heritage.
