
Festive demand fuels record sales for India’s auto industry in october 2025
India’s automotive sector witnessed robust growth in October 2025, driven by festive season demand and strong consumer sentiment. Major automakers Hyundai, Mahindra & Mahindra, TVS Motor, Toyota Kirloskar, and Kia India reported impressive year-on-year (YoY) gains across key segments, reinforcing optimism in the domestic market.
Record sales across major automakers : Maruti Suzuki India Limited recorded its highest-ever monthly sales of 220,894 units, setting a new industry benchmark. Domestic sales reached an all-time high of 180,675 units, while 8,915 units were sold to other OEMs and 31,304 units were exported. The milestone reflected sustained consumer confidence and improved supply chain efficiencies.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) achieved total sales of 69,894 units, including 53,792 units in the domestic market and 16,102 units exported, an 11% YoY growth in exports. The SUV duo Creta and Venue registered their second-highest combined monthly sales of 30,119 units, reaffirming Hyundai’s stronghold in the SUV segment.
Broad-based gains for two-wheeler and EV segments : TVS Motor Company surpassed projections with total sales of 5.43 lakh units, an 11% YoY increase over 4.89 lakh units a year earlier. Two-wheeler sales advanced 10% to 5.25 lakh units, while electric vehicle (EV) sales grew 11% to 32,387 units. Exports surged 21% to 1.15 lakh units, and three-wheeler sales soared 70% to 18,407 units, reflecting strong momentum across product categories.
SUVs continue to dominate : Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) reported total auto sales of 1.2 lakh units, marking a 26% YoY rise. Domestic passenger vehicle sales surged 31% to 71,624 units, supported by persistent SUV demand. Exports increased 15% to 4,015 units, while three-wheeler sales rose 30% to 12,762 units, underscoring broad market strength.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) maintained steady growth with 40,257 domestic units sold and 2,635 units exported, extending its positive trajectory in both domestic and overseas markets.
Kia India hits new peak : Kia India posted its highest-ever monthly sales of 29,556 units, representing a 30% YoY increase. The Sonet led with 12,745 units, followed by the Carens Clavis and Carens Clavis EV at 8,779 units, and the Seltos at 7,130 units, consolidating Kia’s position as a fast-growing challenger brand in India’s competitive SUV space.
Outlook : Momentum driven by SUVs and EVs Industry-wide growth in October highlighted the continued dominance of SUVs and accelerating EV adoption. The festive season acted as a catalyst for demand recovery, while production stability and improved financing conditions further boosted consumer purchases.
As automakers gear up for the year-end push, the momentum achieved in October 2025 is expected to set a strong foundation for the industry’s sustained expansion in the coming quarters.
