Father Kills Daughter After Argument Over Cooking Food, Arrested

In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district, police have arrested Ram Lal of Kohandaur village for allegedly killing his daughter following a dispute over dinner preparation, with investigators also confirming attempts to destroy evidence after the crime .

According to police, the incident took place after Ram Lal returned home in an intoxicated condition on Tuesday night. He allegedly confronted his daughter Sonam, (30) over why dinner had not been prepared, leading to a heated argument that turned violent.

Police said Sonam had come to her parental home a day earlier from her in-laws’ house . She was later found dead near the residence on Wednesday.

Station House Officer Dhananjay Rai confirmed that the accused used a stick and an axe in the assault , both of which were recovered from the spot. Assistant Superintendent of Police (City) Prashant Raj Hooda said the victim’s husband Ajay Kumar lodged a complaint alleging that the murder occurred while Ram Lal was under the influence of alcohol .

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed that he had sold crops earlier in the day, consumed alcohol, and returned home late, after which the confrontation over food escalated.

Police investigations further revealed that after the killing, Ram Lal allegedly made efforts at concealing evidence , including cleaning bloodstains and hiding the victim’s sari to mislead investigators.

The victim’s body was recovered from near the house, and forensic teams were deployed to examine the scene. Officials also confirmed that a post-mortem was conducted as part of the investigation.

Police have arrested the accused and sent him to jail. Further legal proceedings are underway, while forensic findings are being used to strengthen the case.
