BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, alleging that its much-publicized “Indiramma Rajyam” has pushed Telangana into a period of economic and administrative distress. He claimed that the state's new paddy procurement policy has created uncertainty among farmers and weakened confidence in the government's commitment to the agricultural sector.

Addressing a BRS constituency-level workers' meeting in the Vardhannapet Assembly segment of Warangal district, KTR accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of failing to safeguard farmers' interests. Referring to the government's decision to procure paddy within limits approved by the Centre, he alleged that the move could adversely affect cultivators who depend on assured procurement to market their produce.

The BRS leader said the issue has gained significance because paddy procurement remains one of the most sensitive agricultural concerns in Telangana. He argued that farmers now fear there may be no guarantee that crops produced beyond the approved quota would be purchased in future seasons, potentially exposing them to financial uncertainty.

KTR also accused the Congress government of adopting contradictory positions on procurement policy. He noted that leaders who had previously criticized the BRS government for following Central guidelines are now defending a similar approach. According to him, the development reflects a disconnect between the promises made to farmers and the policies being implemented.

Expanding his criticism, KTR alleged that the government has failed to effectively address several issues facing the farming community. He cited delays in extending investment assistance , the discontinuation of the Rythu Bima insurance scheme introduced during the BRS regime, shortages of seeds and fertilizers, and increasing concerns over power supply to the agricultural sector. He further claimed that discussions around a proposed Farmers' DISCOM have raised fears about the future of free electricity for farmers.

Beyond agriculture, KTR said the Congress government has fallen short of public expectations across multiple sectors. Questioning the administration's record over the past two-and-a-half years, he challenged it to identify major welfare initiatives or development projects launched during its tenure.

The former minister also targeted Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his frequent visits to New Delhi, alleging that despite numerous trips, Telangana had not secured significant benefits from the Centre. He further accused the government of focusing more on political vendetta than governance and claimed that BRS leaders and workers were being subjected to politically motivated cases.

Calling on party cadres to remain united, KTR assured them of his continued support and urged them to intensify grassroots outreach efforts. He said the party's long-term objective remains to bring K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) back to power and restore what he described as a model of welfare-oriented governance. During the meeting, he also reviewed the party's membership drive and provided guidance on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
